The dance will take place in the Community of Saints' gymnasium on Friday, October 25th from 6:00-9:00 pm. In addition to the school community, the dance is open to our sponsoring parish communities as well! The cost of the dance is $5/person or $20/immediate family, and includes a DJ, games, photo booth and opportunities to purchase food and refreshments at concessions. Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union: a shining example of service
Every year on Columbus Day, all Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union offices donate their time to do volunteer work in their neighborhood. Several employees from the Affinity Plus office located on Lafayette Road spent nearly two hours washing windows, dusting chairs and polishing furniture in church. They also vacuumed the church and chapel, and polished all pews in the chapel. Affinity Plus also donates school supplies to Community of Saints Regional Catholic School. Classical music concerts at St. Matthew and Humboldt High, October 2019-April 2020
Eight classical music concerts will be presented in the coming months on the West Side. The venues include the Church of St. Matthew, 510 Hall Ave., St. Paul, and Humboldt High School. Sospiri, an early Baroque ensemble based in St. Paul, will perform 17th century expressions of death and loss at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 13, at St. Matthew's. Admission is free. Community of Saints school year is off to a great start! Our K-8 enrollment has reached over 200 students, and we are so excited to have several new additions to our community! Strawberry cleaning for State Fair: final report 2019
Here is the final report for this year’s “State Fair strawberry cleaning." There were 69 different folks who worked on one or more of the days of the cleaning. It was wonderful to see so many people. It was wonderful to see “seniors” who can do this work; it was very wonderful to see some “youth” who came to help on most of the days! There were 362 “appearances” by those 69 people over the course of 11 days. On Tuesday, August 27 there was no cleaning because of the amount of rain on Monday. Strawberry Cleaning 2019
We have had 25-35 people each day cleaning and preparing strawberries for the State Fair. Proceeds go toward the church and school roof repairs that were recently completed. Our earnings will be approximately $4300. There have been about 700 pounds of strawberries to clean each day. Cleaning sessions started at 8:00 am every morning from Wednesday, August 21 through Sunday, September 1. Thanks to all who have helped! Now is the time to sign up for cleaning and preparing Strawberries for the State Fair Booth. You can just show up at 8:00 am in the Social Hall any morning between Wednesday, August 21 and Sunday, September 1. Christmas Ornaments at Fall Festival
Several years ago St. Matthew Christmas ornaments were sold at the Fall Festival. The ornaments were sold in sets of two. A picture of the church was on the ornament and the buyer could then have the name of a family member, friend etc., living, or deceased, written on the ornaments. The buyer kept one ornament and the other would be placed on the Sanctuary Christmas trees during the Christmas season. Men’s Club News August 2019
August 2019 There will be no general meeting on August 14th, see you in September! Mudhens Game We had 52 people for the Miesville game. The cost to the club was about $10.00 per person which included a ride to the park and beverages on the bus. This was a great social activity for not only the Men’s Club but for members of the parish. St Paul Saints Tim bought 25 tickets and sold all of them, I think this was the first time I remember selling all of tickets.
