Isaac’s Blessing Bags 2019: Catholic Spirit article
Isaac Garcia, an 8th grader at Community of Saints School, helped bring Christmas again this year to homeless people. Last year, at COS, he organized the collection of enough items to gift over 100 people at a local homeless shelter. This year, St. Matthew's offered to help Isaac collect items for gifts. Donations included hand warmers, socks, hats, mittens, scarves, sweaters, boots, jackets, bottled water, soap, fruit snacks, granola bars, toothbrushes, deodorant, combs, hair brushes disposable razors, small toys for babies & children, and diapers. Community of Saints is halfway through our annual school marathon! We kicked off on October 3rd with obstacle courses that included a lot of hopping, running and throwing! Students loved it. The marathon ends on Give to the Max Day-Thursday, November 14th. Our goal this year is to raise $12,000 for flexible classroom seating and classroom STEM resources. Throughout the marathon, classes also work on service projects. Our new church entrance ramp – progress report
The new ramp is completed and the entrance to the church looks so much nicer! We thank Pete Rivera who patched the hole in front of the south entrance door. The men from Krech Ironworks visited on Monday to take the specific measurements for the railings. Their backlog is about three weeks; we should expect installation in about that time. Thank you for your patience; and thanks to all those who helped “foot the bill”.
