Download letter: Lent and Easter letter from Phil Grant-2-17-2025.pdf

Dear Parishioners:
Lent begins soon: Ash Wednesday is March 5.
To support your Lenten journey, this mailing includes the Little Black Book. The booklet contains scripture, reflection and prayer for each day of Lent. (Note that the book actually starts on Sunday, March 2.) I invite you to spend six minutes a day with these books. It’s a St. Matt’s tradition, a way to help us deepen our appreciation of Lent.
We’ve included two special envelopes: one is for seasonal church decorations and flowers for Easter. Please use this envelope for your donations in memory or in honor of your loved ones. We will publish the donors’ names after Easter.
The other envelope is for Easter Sunday, in case you do not already have one.
Note that we’ve put the Lent/Holy Week schedule on the back of this letter. Please join us for worship whenever you can.
A bit of news: our school building tenant, Quantum STEAM Academy (QSA), continues to do well. It’s now in its fifth year, and enrollment has increased each year. That’s good news for St. Matt’s, as QSA’s rent payments help greatly with our payments on our 2016 elevator loan. They also help with building maintenance. I’m glad that our school building continues to be used for a worthy purpose, educating young people.
Thank you very much for your continued presence in and passion for St. Matt’s. Your engagement with our parish life and ministries helps express God’s love. May you receive all the blessings that God has in store for you!
Along with Fr. Antony Skaria (our Parochial Administrator) and Fr. Thomas Kommers (our Sacramental Minister), I pray that this season of Lent will be fruitful for you. We also pray that all of us will be excited, committed Easter people.
Sincerely,
Philip Grant
Pastoral Administrator
