Faith Formation children and Community of Saints children registered to receive First Communion at St. Matthew should come to First Communion practice on Wednesday, May 8, at 7:00 pm in St. Matthew Church. We will do the final preparation and teaching so that children are ready for the sacrament, which will be celebrated at the Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 19, Masses. Faith Formation and Sacraments News Faith Formation Advent Service: Faith Formation students and families will celebrate Advent with a prayer service on Wednesday, December 19. Students should come to their Parish Center classroom at 6:30 PM and later will go with their teacher to church for the 7 PM service. That evening, we will collect small nonperishable food items plus toiletries, hand warmers, and other useful items to add to Isaac’s blessing bags, which will be given to the homeless at Christmas. Save the Date, First Communion/First Reconciliation Meeting: On Wednesday, January 16, there will be a meeting at 6:30 PM for parents/guardians with children who have registered to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion at St. Matthew. Children preparing for the sacraments should also attend, along with the parent/guardian. CONFIRMATION LAUNCH: All St. Matthew Confirmation candidates and their families are invited to attend the St. Matthew 10:00 am Mass on Sunday, October 28. After Mass, we will host Coffee Sunday, which will be a potluck brunch with the dishes provided by Confirmation families. Everyone who comes to 10;00 am Mass is invited to the potluck brunch. Baptism If you have a child you would like baptized, visit st-matts.org/baptism/, follow the instructions there, and complete the baptism registration form and submit it to the St. Matthew parish office. The baptism class at Our Lady of Guadalupe requires registration a week in advance, so call 651-224-9793 and talk to Linda Rivera Monday-Friday between 9 and 1 to register. After those steps are completed, then we schedule your family for baptism, which is held during Mass on the first weekend of the month. Faith Formation Classes Resume: St. Matthew Faith Formation classes for public school students resume on Wednesday, April 11, at 6:30 PM in church with the usual dismissal at 7:45 PM from the Parish Center. We also have class on April 18. Note that our final regular class for the 2017-2018 school year is on April 25. First Reconciliation Service: Students in the Wednesday evening Faith Formation program and Community of Saints students planning to make their First Communion at St. Matthew will celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, February 24. On Sunday, February 18th a new Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the Sunday, 10:00 a.m. Mass begins.  This Sunday service is geared to children 3 to 6 years of age. Please bring your child(ren) to Mass and the Liturgy teachers will came and escort them to the chapel at the appropriate time.  We are excited to begin this new program for our younger children who are not yet old enough to attend Faith Formation.
