Community of Saints had a blast helping out at the St. Matthew Fish Fry last Friday night. Thank you to the St. Matthew Men's Club for all of your support and allowing COS to be a part of this amazing community event. Our annual Night of Community with the theme of Roaring Twenties was a huge success! We project we had close to 150 people attend. Our guests had a great time, and we will share the outcome of our fundraiser once we finalize numbers. During Catholic Schools Week, Amari Muhammad in fifth grade was our COS finalist for the National Geographic geography bee. Students and staff gathered for weekly prayer services and also read about the story of baby Jesus in our daily morning prayers. We also hosted Las Posadas at school as well as at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. School families were encouraged to decorate a family ornament for our tree in the hallway by the office! Isaac Garcia, an 8th grader at Community of Saints School, helped bring Christmas again this year to homeless people. Last year, at COS, he organized the collection of enough items to gift over 100 people at a local homeless shelter. This year, St. Matthew's offered to help Isaac collect items for gifts. Donations included hand warmers, socks, hats, mittens, scarves, sweaters, boots, jackets, bottled water, soap, fruit snacks, granola bars, toothbrushes, deodorant, combs, hair brushes disposable razors, small toys for babies & children, and diapers. "My Name is Isaac. I want to help the homeless!” Two weeks ago Isaac Garcia, an 8th grader at Community of Saints School, spoke at both masses telling us of his wish to bring Christmas to the homeless people. Community of Saints is halfway through our annual school marathon! We kicked off on October 3rd with obstacle courses that included a lot of hopping, running and throwing! Students loved it. The marathon ends on Give to the Max Day-Thursday, November 14th. Our goal this year is to raise $12,000 for flexible classroom seating and classroom STEM resources. Throughout the marathon, classes also work on service projects. The dance will take place in the Community of Saints' gymnasium on Friday, October 25th from 6:00-9:00 pm. Community of Saints school year is off to a great start! Our K-8 enrollment has reached over 200 students, and we are so excited to have several new additions to our community! It is wonderful to finally share with you the good news that the Fall Festival raised $16,000.
