We know there has been some concern in the past concerning the status of Community of Saints as it resides on the campus of St. Michael's which is no longer an operating parish. On the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time, the gospel invites us to look at our belief in miracles. When it comes to miracles, it seems to me that there are three prevailing outlooks. The first one is that miracles take place every day. People who have this outlook believe in the marvelous power of prayer. For them, Jesus Christ, the healer, is always present for those with sufficient faith. Prayer makes things happen and the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick yields actual healing be it for body, mind, or spirit. The words "Miracles Happen" express the outlook of these people. In the Western Church, the Third Sunday of Advent is sometimes called by its Latin name, Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means “to be joyful” and “to rejoice.” On Gaudete Sunday, our rejoicing is most often symbolized by lighting a rose-colored candle on the Advent wreath. Archdiocesan Support for Community of Saints and Catholic Education. Bishop Cozzens celebrated mass at Community of Saints last Thursday. He led us in prayer as we remembered our lost loved ones on All Souls Day. Also invited to our school mass were our "Loyalty" donors. Our annual Halloween Dance was a huge success! Over 250 people attended, and there was representation from our school, sponsoring parishes and the local community. It was so much fun! The night consisted of lots of dancing with a great DJ, a coloring table, photo booth, snacks, great costumes and good conversation. Our gym was packed. We love our close-knit community.
