The Homily for March 29th 2020
St. John's Gospel is divided into two parts. The first part is called the Book of Signs. And the second part, the second half is called the Book of Glory. The word signs mean miracles. And in that first half of the book, there are six stories of miracles that are told. There's Jesus changing the water into wine at Canaan Galilee. And Jesus curing the Centurion son who was ill. And Jesus fraying the man who was paralyzed at the Pool of Siloam. And then last week, Jesus lifting the eyes of the man born blind. And then Jesus feeding the 5,000 with a few fish and a couple of pieces of bread. And … [Read more...] about The Homily for March 29th 2020

The Gospel for March 29th 2020
The Lord be with you. The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, according to John. Glory to you Lord. There was a man who was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Martha and Mary. Mary was the one who anointed Jesus with precious ointment and then dried his feet with her hair. Her brother was Lazarus, who was ill. Martha and Mary sent word to Jesus saying, "The one whom you love is ill." Jesus said, "This illness is not unto death. It is for the glory of God and the glorification of the son of man." Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus, and yet he stayed where he was for two days. … [Read more...] about The Gospel for March 29th 2020

The Homily for March 22nd 2020
Father Steve Adrian 3/22/2020 One of my favorite authors is Flannery O'Connor, and she writes short stories and she's written a few novels. She comes from the South, from Georgia. And in one of her short stories, she talks about the Gospel in Mark, which is the parallel to the one that the church puts before us today, where Jesus comes into a town and there is a man who cannot see, and they ask Jesus to help this man see, to give him sight. And Jesus takes the man out of town, out beyond the town where He's alone with the man and it's there that he puts the paste in the man's eyes. He holds … [Read more...] about The Homily for March 22nd 2020

Father Steve's Gospel Reading from 3/22/2020 John Chapter 9 The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, according to John. Glory to you, lord. As Jesus passed by, he saw a man born blind, and his disciples asked him, "Who has sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus said, "Neither he nor his parents have sinned. It is so that the work of God may be manifested through him. We must do the will of him who sent me, while it is still light. The darkness is coming, and then in the darkness, no one can work." Then Jesus spit on the … [Read more...] about The Gospel for March 22nd 2020
