Strawberry cleaning for State Fair: final report 2019
Here is the final report for this year’s “State Fair strawberry cleaning." There were 69 different folks who worked on one or more of the days of the cleaning. It was wonderful to see so many people. It was wonderful to see “seniors” who can do this work; it was very wonderful to see some “youth” who came to help on most of the days! There were 362 “appearances” by those 69 people over the course of 11 days. On Tuesday, August 27 there was no cleaning because of the amount of rain on Monday. We have had 25-35 people each day cleaning and preparing strawberries for the State Fair. Proceeds go toward the church and school roof repairs that were recently completed. Our earnings will be approximately $4300. There have been about 700 pounds of strawberries to clean each day. One vendor of the four was preferred. Members of the finance council checked on the references. They made contact with six companies who have had roofs installed/ replaced by our preferred company. Every reference was extremely positive in all aspects of the work and the follow- ups. It is wonderful to finally share with you the good news that the Fall Festival raised $16,000.
