Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
Thank You: To the members of the Men’s Club who sponsored the Turkey Bingo last Saturday evening. Thanks to those worked in the kitchen, behind the bar, sold bingo cards, called numbers and double checked winning cards. The event was well attended! Everyone, even those who didn’t leave with a turkey or extra money in their pocket, commented on how much they enjoyed the evening.
Ofrenda: Most people have now seen the Ofrenda in the back corner of the church. Many parishioners have already brought pictures of their family members or friends. Thank you to those who have placed pictures at this “altar”. Each picture holds a memory or a story. One stand holds a picture of two men. One picture is a young man’s graduation picture and the other is of an older gentleman on his wedding day. Actually, these two men are the same age. They grew up in the same neighborhood and both attended St. Matthew School and then Hill High School. They played ball together on a West Side Street with other boys and girls from the neighborhood. One man died young in his 20’s; the other in his 70’s. Today, they play ball on “streets of gold” with other friends from their youth. Death isn’t the end; it is just the beginning. If you have pictures of family or friends who have died, consider honoring them by placing those pictures on the Ofrenda for the month of November.
