FACILITIES UPDATE
• One of our goals this summer is to reduce, reuse or recycle items stored in our various storage rooms. We’re currently focused on the school building, which still has things left over from St. Matt’s School and the previous charter school tenant. (I’m offering tours to alumni and other interested parties. There is no charge, but know I’m looking for help in clearing things out.) We’re trying to avoid putting things in landfills. Let me know if you’re interested.
• We’ve met again with our main electric panel (E-Box) contractor, Apadana Technology. Panel design work is a custom job, and it’s progressing. We’ve also met with Apadana’s parts distributor and the parts designer. We expect the panel to be replaced in the fall, after completion of design work and parts procurement.
• It looks like the school roof will be replaced in August. We’re also going to replace the two low roofs on the Parish Center. Both are in poor condition, and one leaks. The good news is that our contractor, Englund Roofing, said we don’t need to replace the top roof on the Parish Center. It’s in very good shape. (There’s a $100,000 savings right there.)
• We’re upgrading the wiring in the school’s classrooms. Modern educational technology tools require more electrical outlets than we had, and various inspectors have told us to get rid of extension cords. They’re a hazard.
• Doors, doors, doors. We’ve fixed or replaced all doors in the school building, per the fire inspector’s list. Next up: door work in the church building and Parish Center.
• The security systems ad hoc committee will continue to meet, in order to learn about door access systems as well as cameras.
• Church ceiling fans are still on the to-do list.
As you can see, we’re doing a lot to maintain our buildings. It’s important work, as our buildings enable our many ministries. If you’re interested in helping with one or more projects, let me know. If you’d like to attend our next Facilities Committee meeting, it’s scheduled for this Tuesday, July 18, at 6:00 PM in the Parish Center’s 1st floor Community Room. All are welcome!
Thank you for your support, and have a great week!
