Adventures in Scheduling
We’ve recently had a couple of scheduling meetings, in order to plan our calendar for the next 12 months or so. It’s very useful to bring together staff members, key volunteers, and Fr. Thomas. We find out who’s doing what, when, and in which space. It’s important to budget our time, space and people for maximum community benefit.
Several examples come to mind. For instance, Faith Formation programs are often on Wednesday evenings. That’s also when choir rehearsals occur.
Another example involves Loaves & Fishes (L&F), one of our ministry partners. To feed hundreds of people every Monday-Friday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, L&F uses our Social Hall. Meanwhile, our craft group starts at 6:00 pm on Thursdays, using the west end of the Social Hall. There’s no conflict, but awareness is helpful.
Occasionally, we schedule meetings in the Social Hall, choosing a time so people can have an L&F supper before or after the meeting.
If you’re interested in scheduling something at St. Matt’s, email or call Angela in the parish office. She manages our master schedule.
Finance Council
Our Finance Council met on August 8. We reviewed current facilities projects, e.g., renewing the parking lot and installing solar panels. We also discussed possible goals for our November calendar fundraiser. If you have suggestions, please send them to a Council member. They include Richard Dunn, Jackie Lackner, Becky Montgomery, Tony Postiglione, and trustees John Del Vecchio and Karen Thompson.
I’m grateful to all our Council members for their advice and support. If you’d like to know more about its work, talk to any member.
Capital Needs. I greatly appreciate your pledges for and contributions towards the parking lot fund. See the table in the back of the church for Capital Needs envelopes and pledge forms. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your support, and have a great week!
